Overhire Scenic/Prop
We are looking for freelance scenic painters and prop artisans to join our team on a project to project basis. Rate is $35/hr. Occasionally we will work overnights or weekends so be sure to let us know if you are flexible. Please email our Paint Charges, Franny & Sam with a portfolio and resume. No cover letter necessary.
Experience:
-
Valid Drivers License (Ideal, but not required)

Experience with sanding and surface prep
-
Required 4+ years experience with scenic painting and/or prop making
-
Required 2-4 years experience working in a fabrication shop
-
Ability to use hand and power tools safely
Skills:

Scenic painting techniques

Foam carving and sculpting

Prop fabrication

Color matching

Color mixing

Faux finishes

Working in a fast paced environment

HVLP Spraying

Creative problem solving

Basic carpentry skills, a plus but not required
Abilities:

Working on feet all day

Lift 25+ lbs

Comfortable working on ladders and lifts

Able to execute paint treatments based off renderings

Responsibilities
-
Sand and prepare scenic and prop elements for finishing

Assist with sculpting foam, wood, and other scenic materials

Apply scenic paint treatments and finishes as directed

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace

Follow project specifications, deadlines, and quality standards

Collaborate with the scenic charges to complete projects efficiently
